Ahoy, me hearties! Gather 'round as I spin ye a tale of adventure on the high seas. In a time long ago, when pirates ruled the waves, there sailed a legendary ship known as the Rum Runner. This magnificent vessel was feared by all who crossed its path, for it was not just any pirate ship, but a cunning and swift vessel that specialized in smuggling the finest rum from faraway lands.
The Rum Runner was adorned with black sails that billowed in the wind like dark clouds on a stormy night. Its hull was painted in a deep shade of crimson, symbolizing the blood that was spilled in its wake. The ship was crewed by the most fearsome and cutthroat pirates to ever set foot upon a deck. They were a band of misfits and rogues, each with their own unique skills that made them formidable opponents. Captain Blackbeard, a notorious pirate known for his fearsome beard and ruthless nature, commanded the Rum Runner. He had a reputation for being cunning and ruthless, never hesitating to engage in battle if it meant securing a precious cargo of rum. His crew revered him and followed his every command without question, for they knew that his leadership was what made them successful. The Rum Runner sailed through treacherous waters, always staying one step ahead of the authorities. With its sleek design and lightning-fast speed, it could outmaneuver any ship that dared to chase after it. The ship's hold was filled to the brim with barrels of rum, obtained through daring raids on merchant vessels and secret deals with unscrupulous traders. As the Rum Runner made its way from port to port, whispers of its exploits spread like wildfire among the pirate community. Pirates from all corners of the world flocked to join Captain Blackbeard's crew, eager to be part of the legend that was the Rum Runner. The ship became a symbol of rebellion and freedom, inspiring countless tales and songs sung in taverns across the seven seas. But alas, like all great tales, the legend of the Rum Runner eventually came to an end. Captain Blackbeard and his crew were captured by an armada of naval ships sent to hunt them down. The Rum Runner met its demise in a fiery battle, going down in a blaze of glory that would forever be etched in pirate lore. And so, the tale of the Rum Runner lives on, passed down through generations of seafarers who dare to dream of a life beyond the horizon. Its name forever etched in history as a symbol of adventure, rebellion, and the pursuit of freedom. Hello Nurglings, Another update here. I little photo dump of a set of mins painted up for Warhammer 40,000. This time it is a unit or Nurgle Plaguebearers in a nice eerie green scheme. These are the newest models that are available. When I was much younger, like 20 years younger, I had the 3rd edition models of Plaguebearers. I honestly remember enjoying painting them a lot more. That said, these were still fun. This was the second set of minis as a full unit I was able to complete this winter and fully base them. The one thing is this and the guardsmen still need seal coating. This was a base of pure white primer group with a base layer of green and then coating with Contrast Plaguebearer flesh from Citadel. I think that this was a nice experiment and turned out with the lively green hue yucky enough to inspire lots of retching. See the images below for an array of the unit models of each Plaguebearer. Paints to use with Tim Kaney Plaguebearer Paint Scheme: Livery Green = Green Base Plaguebearer Flesh Contrast Paint = Green Fleshtone Imperial Fist Yellow Contrast Paint = Boils Warp Lightning Contrast Paint = Horns Dracolich Scales = Sword Base Basilicanum Grey Contrast Paint = Sword Fleshtearers Red Contrast Paint = Wounds Nurgles Rot Technical Paint = Slime Sour Apple DecoArt Paint = Base That does it for this post. Feel free to comment with questions or advice. Thanks all! Greetings fell creatures! Alrighty, I have a lot of updates that will be coming along so here we go. Apologies on the lack of posting. Work, life, mental, personal, medical health excuses and all that. It's been crazy. Trying to push through. I had a productive fall and end to 2023. I have two big sets of minis painted and based. Started some others. Building some more. And helping my 9 year old get his Ork Kill team boiz up and running. Anyways, here we go. My son and I got the Kill Team Starter set months ago that features the Ork Kommandos and Veteran Guardsman teams since it also came with scenery and a mat and accessories. It was a better deal per piece than getting armies separate. I had already bought another Killteam set which I have yet to paint but figured the other stuff was worth it. So the above picture shows all of them together as their whole Killteam. They are featured using the slapchop method painting and that was created using dark grey primer coat drybrushing up a couple shades with light grey and then white. The color scheme was inspired by a piece of fan fiction I was writing a long time ago. The top coasts are contrast orange and blue from Citadel. Paints for Veteran Guardsman Custom Color Scheme Magmadroth Flame = Orange Armor Talassar Blue = Blue Great Coat Basilicanum Grey = Grey Straps, Boots, and Guns Warp Lightning = Green Lenses Sour Apple (DecoArt) = Green Base After doing so, I would say this, you have to work really hard to not end up with a grainy dark effect under the colors and most times would recommend newbies to stick with just white as the undercoat for contrast and speed paints. Gives a better finish in my opinion. I think it ended up with a neat look for these Veteran Guardsman. As for building them, they were surprisingly not terrible and required little cleanup. I am used to the nightmare of Chaos builds, so this was a nice break. These guys are the first full squad of minis painted using the slapchop method. Also, they are the first full squad of minis completed in a long time. Very happy with the results and I hope to post more like these Veteran Guardsman soon. Keep on warmongering you diabolical deviants! See more posts below or to the right... |
